VyStar Foundation has embarked on a remarkable journey, driven by a team of dedicated individuals who have poured their hearts into careful planning and preparation and are committed to improving the communities they call home. With the recent launch event held at the VyStar Breezeway, the Foundation gathered community partners, VyStar Credit Union personnel and individuals from across the region to celebrate the beginning of a meaningful chapter.
However, the journey ahead is what truly matters.
Leading VyStar Foundation is Patricia McElroy, who brings a deep commitment to creating positive change. As Foundation President, Patricia plays a vital role in overseeing the grantmaking process, program activities and day-to-day operations. She also dedicates herself to establishing an efficient infrastructure that supports the seamless execution of philanthropic initiatives. Patricia sets the overall budget and ensures the Foundation is financially stable. She also manages Foundation employees and volunteers, with a major focus on setting the organizational culture.
“It is an honor to serve as Foundation President and have the opportunity to work with so many deeply caring individuals both internally and at nonprofit organizations across our communities,” Patricia said. “We invest considerable thought into selecting the organizations that align with our mission, ensuring that every dollar is wisely utilized to improve the world around us.”
Also serving a vital role in the Foundation's operations is Rosimar Melendez, AVP of Giving & Grant Management. With her extensive experience and a deep commitment to community empowerment, Rosimar works closely with nonprofit organizations seeking support from VyStar Foundation. She assesses their funding needs, identifies opportunities and manages the funding budget. Additionally, Rosimar offers valuable technical assistance, supporting organizations throughout their journey even after the grants have been awarded.
“I absolutely love working closely with these inspiring organizations and collaborating directly with them to fulfill their unique needs,” Rosimar said. “For me, no task is too small if it means we can contribute to their success and drive positive change within our communities. It brings me joy to see the impact we can make together.”
VyStar Foundation is dedicated to doing good and leading by example through collaborative partnerships that support youth, military members and veterans and overall community vitality in the areas served by VyStar Credit Union. Its first grant cycle was in support of military and veteran initiatives, which honored VyStar Credit Union’s founding at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in 1952.
